ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORK
The interiors of many of Melbourne's period buildings feature polished timber details, such as wall panelling and doors, staircases, architraves, windows and sills.
Julian Smith, a traditionally trained French polisher, can revive these timber features using the polishing method originally used, restoring the original lustre while maintaining the patina that reflects the building's history. His skills in matching colour and grain are used to finish new timber work to blend in seamlessly with the old. This woodwork restoration process is labour intensive, but produces an authentic and warm result that highlights the colour and grain of the wood while maintaining it's history. |
